McLaren Supercars India Launch Under Consideration: The British supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive is looking forward to expanding its customer base and is all set to start its Asian venture. The brand will be entering Asian shores including the Indian market prior to its potential initial public offering (IPO) that has been planned for 2025.
In a press conference that was organised in Detroit, the CEO of McLaren, Mike Flewitt addressed the reporters by saying that the demand in Asian markets outside China remains strong, which is why the brand feels confident of its step to open dealerships in Vietnam and Philippines.
The CEO of McLaren said, “We need to put more cars into Asia. The next big ones are India and Russia. We’re not in either and probably should be.” Lamborghini is sanguine about its approach in the Indian market as unlike other supercar brands who are reluctant about their sales, despite the slowdown, Lamborghini is optimistic that its sales would grow by 30% due to the numbers fetched by the Urus SUV as a total of 50 units were sold in the Indian market within a year.
Although it should be penned that McLaren, unlike its rival, is not thinking of entering the SUV segment about which Flewitt said, “We couldn’t afford to do it, It just doesn’t fit the brand.” Rather the brand is bidding upon its expansion strategy on a hybrid car with a new architecture under the skin that will be unveiled by mid-2020.
Currently, the ongoing sales numbers for McLaren are not impressive as in 2018 the supercar brand managed to sell only 4,800 units globally and the sales graph is expected to register a slight downfall in 2019.
Earlier in one of the statements, the British carmaker notified that McLaren Group is planning for an initial public offering by 2025. However, on December 3, the brand stated that the IPO will only come if all parts of the brand are generating profits.
