The third generation Mercedes-Benz CLS has been launched in India for INR 84.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The car was introduced to the world at 2017 LA Auto Show and tags itself as the twelfth product for India this year. The iconic roof-line, impressive stance, and frame-less door are still present on the model while sides are now more linear, abiding the new Sensual Purity design language. The bulk has been replaced with clean lines, refining the coupe stance for this beautiful 2019 variant exterior. The headlights are now more in-line with other segment cars, flaunting heavier base and sharp upper end.
2019 Mercedes CLS offer 2988mm of wheelbase, resulting in 61mm of increase in comparison to the updated E-Class. The increase in wheelbase offers maximum benefits to the rear seat occupants as they have more space for ease of getting in and out of the car. The boot space is marvelous, offering 520-liters of uninterrupted storage and enough luggage carrying capacity for a long highway trip. The design flow continues on the inside, handling the 12.3-inch display for navigation and infotainment purposes. The console is also completely digital, standing parallel to the screen for the sense of unity.
The important features of new CLS include 13-speaker Burmester system, LED lights, air suspension, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The car is available with 2.0L, four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 245 HP and 500 Nm. The use of 9-speed automatic gearbox makes the car good for 0-100 kph in just 6.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 kph. The engine is BS6 compliant and can be seen under the hood of other Mercedes cars also. Once Audi A7 Sportback comes into the market, Mercedes CLS will get a real rival in its own segment that was created 15 years ago.
