The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV has been recently launched in India with a starting price tag of INR 73.70 lakh for the GLE 300d variant while the price range goes all the way up to INR 1.25 crore for its top variant that is GLE 400d. The base model of the all-new SUV is GLE 300d that comes powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 245HP of maximum power and 500Nm of peak torque.
For the GLE 400d variant, the brand has a larger and more powerful 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine that is good for 330HP of maximum power and 700Nm of peak torque. Well, there is a bit of a disappointment for buyers looking for a petrol-powered model as Mercedes is not offering the GLE 450, which comes powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that comes paired with a mild-hybrid system. The combined system output is 367HP of power and 500Nm of torque.
Coming to the styling traits of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV, it gets a new front grille design, large wheel arches and a muscular shoulder line. It also gets new headlights with two LED bars and a new tail-light design. In terms of equipment, the German luxury carmaker has well-loaded the car even in its base specification.
It comes featured with seven airbags, a blind-spot monitor, four-zone climate control, dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and instrumentation, electric adjustable front seats, LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof, hands-free parking and a powered tailgate, are all offered as standard. In addition to these features, the SUV is also equipped with the ‘What3words’ smart navigation system plus the infotainment system also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The more expensive GLE 400d gets nine airbags, a six-way adjustable powered rear seat, a 360-degree camera, autonomous emergency braking, a head-up display and adaptive air suspension. The GLE SUV will rival against the Audi Q7 and BMW X5 in the Indian market. Mercedes-Benz has also confirmed the launch of all-new GLS SUV in coming months.
