MG Motor India has officially launched the next-gen ZS EV in the Indian car market with a Rs 21.99 lakh price tag. The first-gen ZS EV was introduced in 2020 as the first electric car by the brand in our country. The manufacturer has made a plethora of changes to the appearance of the car. However, the overall profile remains the same. It is available in two variants: “Excite” and “Exclusive,” with the latter currently available in showrooms, while the Excite will be available in July of this year.
Speaking of the exterior design of the new ZS EV, the front fascia boasts a fenced grille rather than a deep sunken layout, while the charging port is moved to the left side of the MG logo. The front bumper has been given a sharper look and a broader central air dam with vertical intakes on both sides.
The 2022 MG ZS EV rides on a set of redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels, and the rear end gets a new taillight design as well as a revamped bumper. The London-eye projector headlamps with LED DRLs, roof rails, ORVMs with side indicators, and rear spoiler are retained from the previous-gen model.
Stepping inside, the interior of the EV has also gone through a major overhaul, and plenty of new elements have been introduced for a refreshed feel. The new-gen model gets a central armrest for the rear seats, a central headrest, individual cup-holders, and rear AC vents. Moreover, the ZS EV comes equipped with a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps with wipers, six airbags, ESC, a powered driver’s seat, and more.
In terms of powertrain, the 2022 MG ZS EV is powered by the same 50.3 kWh battery pack that powers a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 176 HP. It offers a range of 461 kilometres on a single charge, which is an increase over the previous version’s range of 419 km. Also, 0–100 kmph can be completed in 8.5 seconds, which is impressive.
