2018 Mitsubishi Outlander has been launched in India for INR 32 lakh. Fans can get their hands on this petrol powered SUV in just one trim and thus, competition gains benefit of multiple variants with both petrol and diesel engines on offer. Mitsubishi has started accepting bookings for the new SUV at all dealerships in India.
Buyers can contact them for test drives and book an appointment once the process starts. 2018 Outlander comes with a crossover-inspired design with huge front chrome loaded grille, almost black bumper from the front and LED headlights. Another chrome bar runs along the headlights and merges into the fog light area.
Carrying five seats and measuring just 4695 mm in length, Mitsubishi Outlander falls short of length by up to 200 mm from cars that can be bought with a smaller price tag. The wheelbase measures 2670 mm while overall width is also decent at 1810 mm. Ground clearance on offer is just 190 mm.
If compared with Honda CR-V, the exclusive petrol SUV of India, Outlander is quite expensive without any doubt. Power comes from 2.4L, four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 167 PS at 6000 rpm and 222 Nm at 4100 rpm. The engine comes mated to a CVT with four-wheel drive as standard.
The car comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, sporty rear bumper and LED tail lights. Mitsubishi has claimed 100 improvements in the car from the last version that was sold in India a few years back.
Interiors are quite premium in terms of design but using 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment puts them ages behind products that offer huge 9-inch units in this segment.
Primary rival to Outlander is Honda CR-V but price points put it against Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota Fortuner, and Ford Endeavour. Few other options like Isuzu MU-X and Hyundai Tucson are much better priced in comparison.
