Mumbai-Pune Expressway Toll Hike from April 1, 2020: According to recent reports, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway toll rates will be increased for every section of the expressway as well as for every vehicle category from April 1, 2020. The basic toll rates are bound to be increased by a total of INR 40 which will ultimately result in the rise of the total amount to INR 270 from the INR 230 for the light motor vehicles.
In addition to this, the toll rates for the multiple axle vehicles, as well as buses and trucks, will also see an overall hefty increase. The all-new Mumbai-Pune Expressway toll rates will be valid for the next three consecutive years till March 31, 2023.
The expressway toll charges are increased by the Maharashtra government every three years while it is a recurring process. The toll rates witnessed an increase in the overall prices by INR 35 back in 2017 where the toll price went all the way from INR 195 to INR 230.

In addition to hiking the Mumbai-Pune Expressway toll rates, the government will also increase the toll rates of the Mumbai-Lonavala Expressway by INR 30 for the lightweight vehicles while the heavyweight vehicles with multiple axles as well as buses will have to pay increased toll prices by INR 49 for the minibus, going all the way to INR 210 for the cranes.
Mumbai-Pune Expressway is India’s one of the first high-speed concrete expressways and it is stretched on 94.5kms of land. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will be officially in charge of collecting toll on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway for the upcoming 15 years while the letter of acceptance has also been offered by them to the IRB Infrastructure Developers which will pay the MSRDC with a total amount of INR 8,262 crores for the collection rights.
