BYD (Build Your Dreams) of China has launched the Atto 3 in India. The Atto 3 is BYD’s second model for India, following the e6 MPV. The BYD e6 became available to private buyers in August of this year.
The Atto 3 has a silver front grille that is blanked off, flanked by sleek headlights with wing-shaped LED DRLs. The front also features BYD lettering on the grille, a trapezoid-shaped dual-tone bumper, and a faux silver skid plate.
The electric SUV has blacked-out wheel arches and dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels. There is also a prominent shoulder line and a silver finish on the C-pillar. Full-length LED taillights and large ‘BYD’ lettering. A chunky dual-tone bumper and a roof-mounted spoiler distinguish the Atto 3.
The interior of the electric SUV is distinctive. A 12.8-inch rotating central screen, a powered tailgate, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic sunroof are all standard features on the Atto 3.
It comes with a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather upholstery, and ambient lighting. It has seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, ADAS technology, traction control, ABS, ESC, and hill descent control.
A front axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous electric motor powers the Atto 3. It generates 201 hp and 310 Nm of peak torque, allowing the electric SUV to speed up from 0 to 100 kph in 7.3 seconds. The Atto 3 is outfitted with a 60.48kWh Blade battery pack with an ARAI-rated range of 521km and regenerative braking.
BYD is selling the Atto 3 for Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Atto 3 comes in four different colours: Ski White, Boulder Grey, Surf Blue, and Parkour Red. BYD has been taking reservations for the SUV since October 11 for a nominal fee of Rs 50,000. The company claims to have received 1,500 bookings and the first deliveries will take place in January 2023.
In the Indian market, the BYD Atto 3 competes with the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric. Despite not having a direct price competitor, the Atto 3 will face competition from the Nexon EV Max.
