The Nissan Magnite is one of the most popular small SUVs on the market in India right now, and it has officially cleared a crash test conducted by the worldwide safety agency, Global NCAP. The Nissan Magnite received a four-star crash test rating out of a possible five stars. As per Global NCAP, the Nissan Magnite scored 11.85 points out of 17 for adult occupant protection and 24.88 points out of 49 for child occupant protection.
The car was evaluated in its most basic safety configuration, which had two front airbags and ABS. During the evaluation, the SUV demonstrated a stable structure but only marginal protection for the driver’s chest.
The child seat for the three-year-old was mounted FWF using the adult belt and was unable to prevent excessive forward movement of the head while providing poor chest protection. The 1.5-year-old kid seat was placed RWF with the adult belt, providing good head protection but poor chest protection.
Global NCAP’s #SaferCarsForIndia initiative is currently testing only frontal crash protection for passengers. As of July 2022, side-impact, ESC, and pedestrian protection evaluations will be included in Global NCAP’s new assessment protocols in India.
