Porsche 718 Cayman & 718 Boxster Officially Launched In India

Porsche 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster has been officially launched in India at INR 81.63 lakh and INR 85.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. It has already finished its first year of presence in the International market. Porsche Cayman is a two seat sports car while Boxster is simply the soft top version for the same car. The previous generation of cars were fun to drive with their 3.5 liter, flat six engine while the new ones are even better with a smaller 2.0 liter turbocharged engine producing 300 PS and 380 Nm.

This makes these cars more powerful by 35 PS and 100 Nm from the old generation examples. Apart from the power increase, these are now more environment friendly and emissions are now kept under check in a better way. The car comes with 7-speed dual clutch PDK. This brings them a sprint time to 100 kmph of 4.7 seconds while the top speed is rated at 275 kmph. Porsche even claims 13 percent increase in fuel efficiency. It even gets a 918 Spyder inspired steering wheel. The Boxster version rivals Mercedes AMG SLC43, priced at INR 77.50 lakh.

Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster are now more agile and easy to steer than the older version. The mid engined sports car carries a smaller combustion chamber. Porsche has no news for the performance spec ‘S’ version for both the cars. Those are powered by a bigger 2.5 liter engine that is good for 350 PS and 420 Nm of torque. They are expected to enter at a later stage. All the cars are brought as CBU’s and pricing for the Porsche products is quite high than most car manufacturers in the same segment.
