Team Porsche has prepared itself for an upcoming 5 seat SUV war with the Mercedes Benz GLE and existing players like BMW X3, Volvo X60 and the bigger Discover Sport from Land Rover. A direct rival to the Macan is not available in the market currently as all the other rivals end up around half of its price. The 2.0 L Petrol Macan retails for INR 97.71 lakh (ex-showroom Kolkata), making it one of the very few cars from Porsche to be under INR 1 crore.
The diesel variant of the car has been priced higher at around INR 1.08 Crore whereas the Macan Turbo goes upward of INR 1.2 Crore. The 2.0 L motor is a powerhouse producing 252 HP @ 5,000-6,000 rpm while the peak torque of 370 Nm is available at around 1,600-4,000 rpm. The all wheel drive car claims a 0-100 kph sprint time of 6.7 seconds, along with a top speed of 229 kmph. The car comes mated to a 7-speed PDK auto gearbox.
