Renault Kiger Production Begins in India: Renault has just announced that they are all set to launch the Kiger sub-compact SUV in India on February 15, 2021, while the brand has also commenced the production of the car at its Chennai plant. Kiger is based on the CMF-A+ platform that has been co-developed by Renault and Nissan. So, Kiger is basically Renault’s version of the Nissan Magnite.
Renault Kiger compact SUV has been imparted a futuristic and clean design language. Some of the key highlights of the design include the signature Renault grille, split LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a roof-mounted spoiler, diamond-cut alloy wheels, C-shaped LED taillights, roof rails, and a rear skid plate.
Coming to the interiors, Renault Kiger sports an all-black theme and the top-spec variant of the compact SUV will come equipped with loads of comfort and convenience features. The list of key features includes an 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument console, climate control system, engine start-stop system, steering mounted controls, Arkamays 3D sound system, wireless charging, and rear AC vents with a 12-volt charging slot.
Mechanically, the brand has confirmed that Kiger would be available with a 1.0-litre petrol engine with two states of tune. LikeNissan Magnite, the turbocharged version would be good for 100 HP of maximum power and 160 Nm of peak torque, while the naturally-aspirated version would be good for 72 HP and 96 Nm. The engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the customers would also be getting option for an AMT as well as a CVT.
Renault Kiger is expected to launch in India with a starting ex-showroom price tag of around INR 5 lakhs. Once launched, the sub-compact SUV would be competing with the likes ofMaruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Nissan Magnite.
