Renault has finally launched the facelifted version of its Duster SUV in the Indian market. The car is based on the current-gen model and features significant changes in its exterior and interior. In terms of looks, the Duster gets a new front grille with chrome garnish, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, a redesigned front bumper, roof rails, new stylish alloy wheels, plastic cladding on the tailgate, and a new sculpted bonnet. The 2019 Renault Duster features a higher bonnet to meet the latest pedestrian-protection norms.
The changes in the interiors include an upgraded infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a new steering wheel, rectangular AC vents on the centre console, a faux aluminium trim, chrome and gloss-black bits with a dash insert that is of the same colour as the exterior. The standard safety features on the Duster include ABS with EBD and brake assist. Its automatic and AWD variants also come equipped with ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and hill-start functionality.
Mechanically, the two engines powering the new Duster are carried forward from its predecessor. The petrol variant of the car is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine with 106 HP/142 Nm. It comes either with the option of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed CVT automatic gearbox. The diesel variant of the car is equipped with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine. It can be had in 2 variations: 85 HP/200 Nm and 110 HP/245 Nm.
The lower-powered version comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. In the higher state of tune, the engine comes mated to either 6-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. With the updated Duster SUV there is now an option of Diesel-AMT but it is only available in the top-spec RxZ variant.
Also, the more powerful Renault Duster continues to be available with AWD but now on the mid-level RxS instead of the top-spec RxZ variant. The SUV is also available in a new blue exterior paint shade. The 2019 model of the SUV gets a starting price tag of INR 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and it will compete in the Indian market with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, and Maruti Suzuki S-cross.
