The BS6 Renault Duster was officially launched in India back on March 17, 2020. The SUV is now available across the country at a starting price tag of INR 8.49 lakh, getting a premium of INR 50,000 over its BS4 price tag. In addition to this, the BS6 Renault Duster is currently not available across the Indian markets with a diesel engine while the brand has not revealed any information on its official website regarding the same. The petrol version of the SUV with a CVT gearbox has also not been updated with a BS6-compliant engine.
Powering the updated SUV is a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre H4K four-cylinder engine that is capable of offering maximum power of 106HP and a peak torque of 142Nm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The power and torque figures of the updated SUV remain the same when compared to the ones offered by the BS4 version.
The BS6 Renault Duster is available in three trims namely RXE, RXS, RXZ. The all-new top-spec petrol variant of the SUV is now available at the dealerships at a price tag of INR 9.99 lakh while the mid-spec RXS variant gets a premium of INR 10,000 over its BS4 price tag and is now available at INR 9.29 lakh.
Since the brand has discontinued the 1.5-litre diesel engine on the SUV which was the main selling point of the SUV in the Indian market, it is yet to be seen how the brand will be able to get major sales with just the petrol variant. Initially launched in 2012, the Renault Duster has not been able to woo the audience with its design and performance when compared to other SUVs in its segment.
The brand has officially imparted the SUV with a cosmetic upgrade in the last year while the updated SUV complies with the all-new crash test norms now mandatory in India. The brand has recently unveiled the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine for the SUV back at the Auto Expo 2020. The new engine is capable of offering 160HP of maximum power and 250Nm of peak torque. Renault is yet to announce the pricing for the Duster variants with the all-new turbo petrol mill which will come paired to a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
