The more powerful version for KWID has arrived with its 999 cc petrol motor in India. Renault has launched the 1.0 L KWID in the country for INR 3,82,776 (ex-showroom Delhi). It is offered in just RxT trim while the optional vairnat, RxT(O) comes for INR 3,95,776. The car brings smile on those faces which were impressed with the styling cues of the car while stayed away due to the lower power output of the 799 cc engine.
The 1.0 L KWID looks identical in terms of dimensions, design and interior whereas it is on the other side, easy to tell the engine size by just looking at the car once. The only two visual differences include the silver finished ORVM’s and race flag inspired design with 1.0 branding on the side molding. Apart from this, everything remains totally identical.
Renault KWID 1000 Launched in India @ Rs 3,82,776
The 999 cc, three-cylinder motor on the KWID is good for 67 BHP @ 5500 rpm and 91 Nm @ 4250 rpm. The car is just 40 kg heavier than the younger sibling, adding nearly 14 BHP and 19 Nm of torque to the overall power figures. This creates a great power to weight as well as torque to weight ratio.
The 5-speed manual transmission remains the same till date while an AMT will be soon introduced on this version. The engine is good for 23.01 kmpl of claimed mileage while the NVH levels have significantly improved over the 800 cc version. The car now cruises better on triple digit speeds as the bigger engine helps it reach and maintain these speeds with much more ease than before.
The interior remains the same with a very productive touchscreen infotainment system, providing the option of navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and music playback. The instrument console is again the same digital unit with easy readouts. The SUV styling and feature loaded approach of the KWID makes it one of the most value for money products in the Indian entry level hatchback segment.
