2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom Launched in India @ INR 9.50 Crore

2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom was officially launched in India for INR 9.50 Crore (ex-showroom). The flagship sedan now enters its eighth generation and brings aluminum space-frame architecture into action through this new body. The same will be used for upcoming Project Cullinan SUV and may further extended itself to other models in the lineup.

The new Phantom is powered by a 6.75L, twin turbo V12 engine that produces 570 HP of maximum power at 5000 rpm and 900 Nm of torque from just 1800 rpm. Even though the car weighs 2625 kg, the engine makes it good for 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.

The new design takes inspiration from a luxury yacht as Phantom’s roof flows in the same smooth manner. Those looking for more luxury could get the long wheelbase version for INR 11.35 Crore (ex-showroom). The new frame offer 30 percent more structural rigidity while it’s magic carpet ride gets further enhancements through new suspension and axle components.

The use of more damping materials inside the car has reduced the overall noise and thus, one could get an impressively calm feel within the interior of new Phantom. Four wheel steering is included for shorter turning radius and better stability at high speeds. Phantom now measures 5762 mm in length, 2018 mm in width and 1646 mm in height. The wheelbase of the car stands at 3552 mm.

Rolls-Royce has offered another variant with 200 mm of extended wheelbase on the same model. The interior of the car gets more technology while analogue still stays in place for the premium feel. An interesting fact for the car comes through the use of glass for Phantom’s dashboard that helps the passenger side act as an art gallery for the passengers.

The doors are electronically powered while rear retains the reverse hinged doors for that iconic feel. Rolls-Royce has offered lot more technology through various screens but all of them can reverse for a flat classic look of the front section. Bookings for the car are now open while delivery period will vary between 9-10 months.
