Rolls-Royce Spectre EV Makes Official Debut with 520 km Range

Rolls-Royce Spectre was first teased more than a year ago and tested for millions of kilometres. This electric coupe is the spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupe. It is also the first step toward the automaker’s goal of becoming an all-electric brand by 2030. While the design can be seen as drawing inspiration from the brand’s existing models, Rolls-Royce claims that the larger inspiration is from modern yacht concepts.

Spectre has the widest grille ever fitted to a Rolls-Royce. It has 22 LEDs for soft illumination at night and is designed for improved aerodynamic efficiency. The Spirit of Ecstasy has also received aero-tuning. All these factors combine to give the Spectre a drag coefficient of 0.25. The fastback tail with the seamless glasshouse contributes to aerodynamic efficiency. Its vertical tail lamps have jewel-like detailing and are finished in a neutral colour. The two-door coupe rides on 23-inch aerodynamic wheels.

The ‘Spectrenameplate is illuminated on the passenger side dashboard panel. It is surrounded by a cluster of over 5,500 star-like illuminations. Rolls-new Royce’s software platform is the most talked-about feature of the Spectre’s interior. The new digital interface with connected car technology controls all car functions.

Spectre is still in the final stages of testing, which is why final output figures have not been finalised. Preliminary data indicates that the Spectre will have a WLTP driving range of 520 km. The electric powertrain generates 585 hp and 900 Nm, allowing the spectre to speed up from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

These figures may change by the time testing concludes in the second quarter of 2023. The figures will be confirmed before the model’s global market debut in the fourth quarter of 2023. Rolls-Royce has begun accepting reservations for the Spectre globally. And the deliveries are set to begin immediately following the launch. The brand will place Spectre between the Cullinan and Phantom.
