As recently confirmed by Skoda’s director Zac Hollis via Twitter, Skoda Kodiaq is finally heading back to India in early 2022. Previously, Skoda India dropped the Kodiaq from its lineup due to the implementation of BS6 norms since April 2020 but the car received a mid-life facelift earlier this year. The overall design of the car gets elevated to give it a more premium look.
Talking about its upgraded exterior look, the car has received a new upright front grille, an updated bonnet, new front and rear bumpers, matrix LED headlamps and alloy wheels have been given a tweak. While the side profile doesn’t get any makeover and resembles the previous version of the Kodiaq, the rear gets slight upgrades. The cabin houses a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a facility of Android and Apple Play connectivity.
In addition to that, the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq is expected to have cruise control, push-button start/stop, ambient lighting, an automatic climate control system, wireless charging facility, electronic stability program, a system that monitors the tyre pressure, a panoramic sunroof and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. When it comes to the safety of passengers, the forthcoming Skoda Kodiaq MY2022 comprises multiple airbags.
The facelifted Kodiaq will use a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 190 horsepower and 320Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic), a combination that Skoda also offers in the Octavia and Superb and will be offered in the All-Wheel Drive option. According to official confirmations, the expected launch of this car is around January 2022 which will lock horns with Toyota Fortuner and the MG Gloster SUV.
