Skoda Auto India has recently extended its car lineup in India with the launch of the Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo variant. The Monte Carlo edition is based on the top-spec variant of the Kushaq and is now available in the country with a starting price of Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This new variant not only comes with cosmetic updates but feature updates as well, and is, of course, pricey in comparison to other variants.
As far as cosmetic updates are concerned, the SUV now boasts a blacked-out grille surround, along with a "Monte Carlo" badge on the fender, vRS 245 alloy wheels, and a gloss black roof with matte-black roof rails, and blacked-out badges on the boot lid. Apart from that, the 1.5 TSI version also gets red brake callipers. The 2022 Monte Carlo edition Kushaq is available in two vibrant colours: Tornado Red and Candy White.
On the inside as well, Skoda has done a great styling job and outfitted the interior with red and black dual-tone upholstery with Monte Carlo badging on the headrests and scuff plates. Besides this, there are red accents around the door handles, centre console, and dashboard.
The feature update comprises a red-finished touchscreen and, most importantly, it comes with a digital instrument cluster just like the Volkswagen Taigun. The newly launched variant also gets red ambient lighting below the passenger-side dashboard and an eight-speaker sound system for a premium feel.
As for the powertrain, just like the style variant, the Monte Carlo Skoda Kushaq also comes with two engine options: a 1.0-litre TSI engine and a 1.5-litre TSI mill. The 1.0 TSI churns out 113 bhp and 175 Nm and can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The 1.5 TSI, meanwhile, generates a stronger 148 bhp and 250 Nm and comes with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
