Skoda has launched a new Rapid mid-size car variant named the Matte Limited Edition with some cosmetic changes. The new version contains no mechanical upgrades. The Matte Edition is based on the Style trim and charges a premium of up to Rs 50,000 above the standard sedan. It is available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. The 6-speed manual transmission Rapid Matte Edition is priced at Rs. 11.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), while the 6-speed automatic transmission variant is priced at Rs. 13.49 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Rapid Matte Edition is available in a sleek Carbon Steel Matte colour. The contrasting gloss black alloy wheels, gloss black door handles, ORVMs, and rear spoiler add to the overall appearance. The chrome elements around the grille and front bumper have been dechromed for a more sporty appearance. The dashboard of the Rapid is covered in Tellur Grey, while the seats are black leatherette with Alcantara. A USB-powered air purifier, scuff plates with ‘Rapid’ branding, and more powerful headlights for greater visibility at night are all included in the limited edition car.
Other notable features include an Android Auto and Apple CarPlay touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, a cooled glovebox, rear AC vents, projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, a multi-information display, 12V accessory sockets, and rain-sensing wipers. There’s also an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ABS with EBD, twin airbags, a rear defogger, and rear parking sensors, among other features. When it comes to engine options, the new Matte Edition is equipped with the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine which is capable of churning out 110HP and 175Nm.
