Skoda Vision IN Concept Revealed; Previews Hyundai Creta Rival SUV

Among several unveilings at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Media Night, the Volkswagen Group also unveiled the Skoda Vision IN concept, that made its world premiere in New Delhi. The production-spec model of the concept will be the first to be launched under the VW Group’s “India 2.0 Project”. It will also be the first model to be built on the company’s brand-new MQB A0 IN platform.

Though Vision IN is a concept by Skoda, it is of the prime importance to the VW Group. It previews a mid-size SUV that will go against the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and Kia Seltos. The prototype model of the vehicle provides a glimpse of a handsome and bold-looking SUV.

It resembles the design of Skoda Kamiq sold abroad but with a more bold and upright nose, with the trademark chrome-established Skoda grille flanked by split projector headlights and an angular front bumper featuring large air intakes. Other design elements of the SUV include plastic cladding all around, prominent roof rails and large 19-inch alloy wheels.

The back of the concept also shares its design traits with Kamiq. The Skoda Vision IN concept features an additional light strip that stretches the width of SUV along with a three-slot skid plate similar to the one on the front. In terms of size, it is roughly the same length as that of the Hyundai Creta, that is about 4.26-metres.

Coming to the interior, the concept car features a thin chrome bar that spans the length of the dash. To make the car look more appealing, Skoda has used bright orange shade on a lot of parts that includes the dash, door panels, centre console, and the front armrest.

The Skoda Vision IN concept gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system right next to the Virtual cockpit digital instrumentation. There is a three-spoke steering wheel along with the buttons for phone controls, voice commands, lane assist and cruise control.

Mechanically, the production version of the midsize SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that will produce 150HP of maximum power along with a peak torque of 250Nm. There will be no diesel option on offer but a CNG variant could be there on the list.
