7 Must-Know Facts About the Tata Hexa Crossover

Balancing practicality with beauty, Tata Motors is high on hopes to create a niche for themselves in the premium segment of products. Certain angles and features may make the Hexa feel like an SUV but still, Tata plays safe and proudly denotes the word MPV with it. Hexa primarily rivals other cars in this segment like Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra Marazzo. Here are 7 must-know facts about the Tata Hexa.

7 Must-Know Facts About Tata Hexa

1) Excellent Design – Tata Motors has done an excellent job of designing the Hexa, making this large MPV look more like an SUV. The front design carries a bit of Range Rover impact in itself while the rear seems to be beautifully finished with no extra bits than required. However, the side may remind a bit of Aria in itself. Large 19-inch alloy wheels and rugged cladding on all of the sides makes the car unique for its segment. Overall, the looks are very imposing and money can’t buy anything else like this in India within this segment.

2) Plush Interior – You may get confused with the Tata badge on the steering wheel as the car’s interior looks centuries ahead of the things Tata used to serve before Tiago, Tigor, Nexon, Harrier and the Hexa. The interior is absolutely mind-blowing, carrying the most premium essence ever in a Tata car. The seats are leather covered with contrast stitching while the dashboard gets a neat design with all modern equipment into it. Space is more than enough in front two rows while interior mood lighting, driver information system and the air vents would make you forget everything else around you.

3) Infotainment System – Hexa uses a modern, 5-inch touchscreen ConnectNext system by Harman that comes paired to a 10 speaker JBL music system with 5 speakers, 4 tweeters and 1 subwoofer. No other car in the segment offers this much of sophistication when it comes to in-car entertainment. The touchscreen supports navigation and even doubles as rearview camera screen. The rivals use big displays, but lack the level of acoustic feel offered by the system.

4) Powerful Engine & Automatic Gearbox – The Hexa comes equipped with the most powerful engine in the segment, 2.2 Varicor 400 producing 156 PS and 400 Nm of torque. It comes with an option between 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Hexa even offers 4×4 on the top variant, getting ahead of Innova Crysta and giving a tough competition to Mahindra Marazzo. While the Marazzo is using the least powerful engines out of all 3, the Innova Crysta benefits from its 2.8L motor with higher BHP.

5) Super Drive Modes – The manual variants on the Hexa are offered with Super Drive modes with Auto, Dynamic, Comfort and Rough road configurations. The car responds according to the selected mode while the automatic variants are even offered with Sports Mode, holding the gears for a longer duration for a sportier feel. The 4×4 Hexa uses Torque on Demand technology.

6) Safety – The safety features on the Hexa makes the MPV a really practical option to have on the Indian roads. It comes with 6 airbags (front, side, and curtain), electronic safety program (ESP), Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with EBD, Traction Control, Hill Hold Control, and Hill Descent Control. The reverse parking camera with sensors adds more safety while travelling in tight spaces.

7) Variants & Price – Hexa is being offered in 7 variants namely XE, XM, XMA, XM+, XT, XTA and XT 4×4. The base variant carries a different engine configuration and uses a 5-speed gearbox. The car starts from INR 12.99 lakh for the base XE variant and goes all the way up to INR 18.17 lakh for the 4×4 variant. Those who need an automatic fully loaded car can spend INR 18 lakh while buyers with no such preference will need INR 16.84 lakh for the top-spec 4×2 manual model.
