Tata Motors is now actively working to strengthen its electric car portfolio in India, following the enormous success of Tigor and Nexon EVs in the country. As a part of this mission, the brand has today unveiled the all-new EV concept, Curvv, which is an SUV. While Tata Motors plans to offer a long-range Nexon EV and Altroz EV in the near future, the new SUV concept demonstrates the company’s long-term vision for EVs. According to Tata Motors, the Curvv would be the first electric SUV, with petrol and diesel engine choices coming later.
The Curvv, like the Nexon EV, has a sloping roofline and a coupé-like form, but that’s where the similarities end. The new concept comes with an all-new design language and features LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) that go over the width of the bonnet crease, through the side, and into the ORVMs. It has split headlights, with the primary headlights located on the bottom bumper. A triangle-shaped housing sports the headlight unit.
Turning to the side profile, the Curvv EV boasts a completely different design from the Nexon EV and gets longer doors, a tapering roof, and bigger wheels. The rear profile of the electric SUV looks more aggressive with a giant blacked-out bumper and a notable tailgate. The LED taillight unit spans the whole width of the tailgate. The proposal also includes a lighting strip that runs over the glass area. The new mid-sized SUV coupe is believed to have better back seat legroom and a larger trunk than the Nexon.
In terms of interior design, the Tata Curvv comes with a clutter-free dashboard. A larger free-standing touchscreen infotainment device dominates the dashboard. On the centre console, you can see the touch panel, which will be used to manage the AC and other functions. The steering wheel of the SUV has been restyled with a glossy black finish. It sports a completely digital instrument panel.
However, the powertrain specs of the upcoming EV have not been disclosed yet. According to the details available, the production-spec model of the Curvv EV is expected to come with a certified range of 400-500km.
