As expected, Tata Motors has officially unveiled the India-spec Tata Altroz in production-ready form. The premium hatchback by the brand is all set to launch at the Auto Expo in February 2020. Earlier, the car was showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show as a production version of the 45X concept, which made its debut at the Auto Expo 2018.
In terms of looks, the Tata Altroz features unique design elements such as the sleek, sweptback headlamps which flank the grille up front, a rising window line and a prominent beltline. At the rear, there are blacked-out elements on the tailgate just below the rear windscreen where the tail lamps reside.
Mechanically, the India-spec Altroz will be available with two BS6-compliant engine options, one of which is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated, three-cylinder petrol engine while the second option is Nexon’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. Both engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and it is expected that the brand will also offer an automatic gearbox option at a later stage.
We can expect the Tata Altroz to get a price range between INR 5-8 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming hatchback will compete with the likes of Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz, and Hyundai i20. Tata will begin the bookings for the car on December 4, 2019, at a token amount of INR 21,000 while the official prices of the car will be announced in January 2020. Here are the official technical specifications of the car.
