Tata Tiago EV has been launched in India today at an introductory starting price tag of Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the country’s most affordable four-wheeler EV. Tata’s first electric hatchback will be available in four trim levels: XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Tech Lux. Bookings for the Tata Tiago EV hatchback will begin on October 10, with deliveries beginning in January. Introductory prices are for the first 10,000 customers, 2000 of which are reserved for existing Tata EV customers.
Tata Tiago EV is powered by Tata’s Ziptron high-voltage architecture, which employs a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The 24kWh version generates a power of 74hp and a peak torque of 114Nm, while the smaller 19.2kWh variants produce 61hp and 110Nm. Tata claims that the Tiago EV has a 0 to 60 kph time of 5.7 seconds, while the base variants with the smaller battery can do it in 6.2 seconds.
24kWh lithium-ion battery pack and electric motors are dust & water resistant, with an IP67 rating. It also includes a 19.2kWh battery with an estimated MIDC range of 250km. Tiago EV comes with a DC fast charger allowing it to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes. Tiago EV has a 315km MIDC-rated range, which is 9km longer than the Tigor EV’s 306km range.
Tiago EV is similar to the Tiago ICE, to distinguish it as an EV, it has electric blue accents on the body and blue highlights inside the headlamps. Tri-arrow Y-shaped elements have also been incorporated into the air dam and the closed-off grille.
Tata has given the Tiago EV blue accents on the interior, and a leatherette steering wheel and seats. The gear lever has also been replaced with a rotary dial for selecting the drive mode, which includes a Sports mode.
Tiago EV comes with automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, push-button start/stop, and cruise control. The electric hatchback is equipped with a seat belt reminder, ABS with EBD, multi-mode regen braking, a rear parking camera, and rear parking sensors.
Tiago EV is Tata’s first electric hatchback and India’s most affordable four-wheeler EV. It is less expensive than the Tata Tigor EV and currently has no direct competitors. Here is the complete price list for the Tata Tiago EV –
