As we reported earlier, the 2021 model of Safari is basically the production version of the 7-seater Harrier, which was earlier codenamed as Gravitas. The new Safari has been upgraded in terms of exterior and interior to set it apart from the Harrier. The changes include a larger rear quarter glass, a new C-pillar rear quarter design, and also a flatter boot lid. It also gets a slightly different front grille with a tri-arrow pattern, while the side profile along with the headlamps and front bumper is the same as Tata Harrier.
Some of the key features of the 2021 Tata Safari include a dual-tone white-black interior theme, front parking sensors, an electronic parking brake, a panoramic sunroof, JBL 8-speaker audio system, an 8.8-inch infotainment touch screen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
In terms of safety, the SUV’s top model would come equipped with six airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Hill Hold Control (HHC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Roll Over Mitigation (ROM), disc brakes on all four wheels with ABS, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Mechanically, the new model of Safari is equipped with the Harrier’s 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine churning out 170PS of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. For now, Tata Motor won’t be offering the new Safari with a 4×4 drivetrain option.
