New Tata Sierra SUV to Get Multiple Models in India

Tata Sierra EV concept was officially revealed by the brand back at the Auto Expo in February 2020 while the launch of the resurrected SUV with an electric powertrain is under consideration. The recent reports suggest that the all-new Sierra SUV will be launched in ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) as well as an electric version in the Indian market. It has been officially revealed by Pratap Bose (VP – Global Design, Tata Motors) that if the brand plans on introducing the production version of the new Sierra, the SUV will be available with a petrol engine, a diesel engine as well as a completely electric powertrain. If or when launched with an electric powertrain, it would be the first-ever electric Sierra under the brand’s portfolio. Based on the ALFA ARC platform, the Tata Sierra with a resurrected name has been showcased with a completely futuristic design language. The next-gen SUV measures 4.2 metres in length, 1.8 metres in width and 1.7 metres in height while the wheelbase stands at 2.5 metres. Coming to the design traits, the older Tata Sierra resemblance can be justified from the single-piece glass shield going all the way to the roof of the SUV. The front fascia of the Sierra features a sleek grille mated to even sleeker headlight design while the massive wheel arches further make it look bold and powerful. The Tata Sierra will be positioned in the brand’s portfolio between the Nexon and the Harrier and will compete in the market with the likes of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, both dominating the SUV segment in India at the moment. The ICE variant of the SUV is expected to be offered with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L turbocharged diesel engines similar to that of the Tata Altroz while the Sierra EV will feature the similar technical specifications as that of the electric variant of the Altroz. Tata Motors is planning to hold customer clinics to understand how impactful the launch of the Sierra and its electric version will be on the Indian audience. If the customers wish to see the production variant of the most cherished Sierra in the Indian market, all they have to do is raise queries with the dealerships to let the brand know of its great demand.
