Production-Spec Tata Gravitas Official Unveiling on January 26, 2021

Production-Spec Tata Gravitas Official Unveiling Soon: As per the latest reports, Tata will be showcasing the production-spec version of the Gravitas SUV on January 26, 2021. Earlier, Tata Gravitas was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and the company had been rigorously testing this SUV on roads since then. The expected launch of the product is estimated to be around February 2021. Although Gravitas was expected to hit the floors in April 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted its launch.

Gravitas will be the brand’s first seven-seater SUV product in the market since the launch of Tata Safari. It will be based on the same OMEGA platform that underpins the Harrier. Thanks to the Auto Expo, we now know that Gravitas will be almost identical to the Harrier upfront. The difference lies between Harrier and Gravitas is of the dimensions where the former is 63mm short in length and 80mm short in the height, as Gravitas will be 4661mm long, 1894 mm wide, 1786 mm tall, and has 2741mm of wheelbase.

To be noted, Tata Gravitas share the same wheelbase as the Harrier. The Gravitas will boast of a longer rear overhang and a stepped roof along with new exterior paint shades that further differentiates the Gravitas from the Harrier. At the rear, the bumper is slightly different from that of the Harrier with a different design for reflectors and silver inserts.

The rear windshield of the Gravitas is more upright than in the Harrier and this change frees up more headroom for the third row. It is expected that Gravitas will be launching in both six-seater and seven-seater options with captain seats or bench seats for the middle row respectively.

Under the hood, Gravitas will be powered by the same engine as the Harrier that means a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 170 HP of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Tata Gravitas will also be available with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

In terms of pricing, Tata Gravitas is expected to get a price hike of around INR 1 lakh to INR 1.50 lakhs in comparison to the Harrier. For your reference, the current-gen model of Harrier is available with a price range of INR 13.84-20.30 lakhs (ex-showroom).
