The Tata Altroz prototype was first introduced at the Auto Expo 2018 and at that time, the model was known as the 45X concept. It is one of the brand’s most anticipated launch among the upcoming premium cars. The Tata Altroz recently entered the production stage and as per a report by AutoCar, the hatchback will make its official debut in India on December 3, 2019.
Earlier, speculations were being made that Altroz will be launched with BS4-compliant engines which will further be upgraded to meet the BS6 emission norms, which are supposed to be implemented in the Indian market on April 1, 2020. It is interesting to know that Tata gave a second thought to this plan and changed its mind in order to avoid complications. Now it has been confirmed that Tata Altroz will be launched soon with BS6-compliant engine options.
It is being speculated that the Tata Altroz will be available with three engine options out of which the first one is a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine that churns out a maximum power of 85HP, which has been sourced from Tiago.
The second option is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that is capable to generate a power of 102HP, which is also present in Nexon and the Tiago JTP. Lastly, the car is expected to get a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine present in the Nexon and it is capable to generate a maximum power of up to 90HP.
In order to offer an even competition with the Tata Altroz to the already existing Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai i20, and Honda Jazz, the brand will pack the model with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a segment-first part-digital instrument cluster. The Tata Altroz is expected to be priced in a range of INR 5-8 lakhs when it will go on sale in India in early 2020.
