The recent surfacing of Tata Altroz specifications confirmed that a sure shot winner has been made by the Indian brand. The car measures 3988mm in length, 1754mm in width and 1505mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2501mm for the Altroz. The maximum width factor makes Altroz an extremely passenger-friendly car while wheelbase seems restricted in comparison to the other options. Not just the dimensions, the engine section for the car was also revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The car seen at the show had a petrol engine under the sculpted bonnet and availability of a diesel unit remains a mystery.
The 1.2L, three-cylinder engine on the hatchback is good for 102 HP at 5500 rpm and 140 Nm at 1750-4000 rpm. The gearbox seen here was a manual unit. The engine will be surely a turbocharged unit as the power values are higher than most cars available in this class. Apart from the engine, values like the 17-inch alloy wheels will also bring class-leading feature list into action here. The tires measure 205/50 for the top model while launch period for the premium hatchback is mid-2019 for India. The rivals in the segment include Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz.
Tata Altroz comes with various segment-leading features like the huge alloy wheels and dual displays in the dashboard for mirroring the content from the main screen to the instrument console. The most powerful factor for Tata is the interior design here, selecting premium components over regular ones and leaving no stone unturned with the body coloured inserts on the top model. The car is expected to be priced from INR 6 lakh and may get a price tag of under INR 10 lakh for the top-spec model. The colour options have not yet been revealed.
