New Tata Altroz Turbo India Launch Date Surfaces Online

The new Tata Altroz Turbo is all set to launch in India next month while the speculated date of the launch is January 13, 2021. It is coming around in the news for quite a long time that Tata has been preparing to add a turbocharged variant to its Altroz premium hatchback.

The Altroz Turbo launching in January is all set to give aggressive competition to its rivals like Hyundai’s Grand i10 Nios Turbo and the Volkswagen Polo TSI. The new upcoming turbo variant will host a lot of premium differences over the standard version of the car. However, as revealed by the test mules, the turbocharged Altroz is not likely to sport any major design tweaks as compared to the standard model.

This variant will bear the turbo label and may come in many exclusive colour schemes. The most noticeable and significant change will be under the hood, and Tata Motors won’t be offering the option of the turbocharged engine on the entry-level XE and XM models.

Tata would be limiting the Turbocharged engine to its high-spec XT and XZ variants. The new Altroz Turbo will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol unit that is quite similar to the one on the Tata Nexon but has been detuned to suit the characteristics of a hatchback. The Altroz Turbo is likely to generate around 110 HP of maximum power along with a peak torque of 140 Nm. The car will come with an option for a 5-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Like the top-spec variants, the Tata Altroz Turbo will also come equipped with LED DRLs, LED tail-lights, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a semi-digital instrument cluster with seven-inch touchscreen infotainment supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Connectivity. The turbo variant will also feature a flat-bottom steering wheel with music, phone, and rest of the controls. In terms of pricing, the Altroz Turbo is expected to get a starting ex-showroom price tag of around INR 8 lakhs.
