According to the new reports surfaced, Tata has been given an official “no” for its patent filing of the 7-seater Harrier as Buzzard thus leading the brand to file for a new name: Tata Cassini. Based on the name of an official satellite launched through the collaboration of NASA with ESA, Tata’s H7X, now going by the name Cassini is one of the most anticipated SUVs of the year.

The European markets will still be getting the H7X by the name Tata Buzzard. According to the speculations, the brand is expected to offer a 4-wheel drive system on the Tata Cassini though no official confirmation on the same has been made yet. The all-new SUV will be equipped with all the features from the Tata harrier in addition to 2 extra seats and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Powering the Tata Cassini is a 2.0-litre FCA-derived engine capable of boosting the maximum power to a whopping 170 HP mark indicating the SUV to offer much more torque. Keeping in check the fact that all the mechanical bits for the Tata Cassini have been derived from the Land Rover vehicles, it is likely to get a tweaked terrain management system.

In terms of pricing, the all-new SUV is expected to get a competitive price range to compete against the likes of Mahindra Alturas G4, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and the Isuzu MU-X. In order to overcome the competitors, the brand is expected to undercut the price range by a huge margin making the Tata Cassini to be priced at INR 16 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant.
