Tata Harrier Launch on January 23, Here is the Expected On-Road Price

Tata Harrier will be launched in India on January 23. The car can be booked for a token amount of INR 30,000. The indicative price for the upcoming premium SUV is also as premium as it can get for a Tata car of this segment. An automotive report hints the on-road price for base variant of Harrier at INR 16 lakh while top variant will fall around INR 21 lakh. When not including any insurance or registration charge, the car will start under INR 14 lakh. The top model will fall in the INR 18 lakh bracket, leaving the most-selling car of this segment far behind in terms of overall pricing. Harrier will rival Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta in India.

The placement of Creta will offer Hyundai a clear benefit over all other cars, whether it be Harrier and Compass or it is Duster and S-Cross. The first two will limit buyers for themselves with such huge pricing while others are not worth consideration in comparison to the variants offered by Creta. Tata Harrier was earlier expected to be a game changer with similar pricing as Creta and a much bigger engine for attracting more buyers to their side. Now, it seems like Tata is targeting Jeep with their pricing and taking them down with a powerful stance. The public previews further back the claims by showing the muscular profile of the new Harrier.

Harrier uses a powerful 2.0L, 4-cylinder engine producing 140 HP of maximum power and 300 NM of maximum torque in the present stage of tune. The engine is sourced from Fiat, leaving Creta behind by clear 14HP and almost 40 Nm of torque. The seven-seat variant of Harrier, planned for a later debut, will use the 170HP tune of this engine. The car is using a Land Rover inspired frame and thus, the overall cost of production is definitely high on their side. The SUV is listed on the official website in 4 variants: XE, XM, XT, and XZ, offering just a 6-speed manual gearbox initially. The launch of Harrier will mark Tata’s entry into an all-new premium segment.
