Tata HBX Micro SUV Spotted Again: Tata HBX micro-SUV concept was initially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 while the production variant of the SUV has been spotted testing once again in a new set of spy photos. Tata HBX is based on the H2X concept that was revealed back at the Geneva International Motor Show held in 2019. The latest set of spy photos confirm that the micro-SUV would come with a 5-speed AMT gearbox as optional, in addition to getting a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.
As we reported earlier, Tata HBX will be launched in India with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine in addition to the 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that was showcased back in the concept variant. As the name suggests, the turbo engine will offer higher performance when compared to the naturally-aspirated engine.
Tata HBX is the second product from the brand that is based on the ALFA platform. The micro-SUV has been imparted an edgy design when it comes to the muscular profile and a compact outlook. The brand has equipped the HBX with an accentuating front fascia that compliments an upright profile.
The production variant of the Tata HBX micro-SUV features almost identical dashboard design with all the key features as seen on the concept version. The upcoming car also features a floating touchscreen infotainment unit in addition to getting a semi-digital instrument console. The electronics package is expected to feature automatic climate control, dual front airbags, remote key start, and an audio system sourced from Harman.
Once launched in India, the Tata HBX production variant will compete in the markets against the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 and the Renault Kwid. One can expect the micro-SUV to be priced around INR 4.50 – INR 7.50 lakh in the Indian markets.
