Tata HBX Mini-SUV India Launch Details Revealed

According to recent reports, the production-spec variant of the Tata HBX mini-SUV will be launched in India by March 2021. The HBX concept was initially unveiled to the audience back at the Auto Expo in February 2020 and was expected to be launched in India within this year, though the recent shutdown of every operation due to the COVID-19 pandemic has made the brand to reconsider the launch.

In addition to this, the brand is also expected to offer a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with the upcoming Tata HBX. Although the base variant of the compact SUV will be available to the customers with Tata Altroz and Tiago-inspired 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine, one can certainly expect the turbo petrol unit to offer higher performance. After Altroz, the upcoming Tata HBX will be the second product from the brand that is based on the ALFA platform.

Coming to the design language, the Tata HBX features almost identical styling when compared to the Maruti Suzuki Ignis in terms of muscular profile with an upright stance. In addition to this, the mini-SUV from Tata also features a bulky front fascia while the notable wheel arches accentuate its profile.

In terms of the interior specifications, the production-spec variant of the compact SUV is expected to feature almost identical upholstery and features when compared to one offered to the concept variant. The dashboard will feature a floating touchscreen infotainment unit while the semi-digital instrument console will add to the premium features. The Tata HBX mini-SUV is expected to get an automatic climate control feature in addition to getting a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The band is also expected to offer the Tata HBX mini-SUV with an all-electric powertrain in a few years. Once launched in India, the HBX is expected to be priced around INR 4.5 – INR 7.5 lakh and will compete in the market with the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
