Nexon AMT XMA Variant Goes On-Sale in India: Tata has introduced the mid-spec Nexon with an AMT gearbox. Depending upon the engine option, you can either get it for INR 7.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) or INR 8.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), for the petrol and diesel engines, respectively. The Nexon with the AMT was launched in May but was available only in the top trim of the compact SUV, which was priced at INR 9.41 lakh and INR 10.39 lakh, respectively for the petrol and diesel engines.
The options for the engines remain the same, with the 1.2-liter turbo-petrol and the 1.5-liter turbo diesel engines, both producing the same 110 hp of maximum power. With the AMT gearbox, there are added options for the manual and crawl modes, one to get full control of the transmission and the other for a worry-free driving experience in city traffic jams.
As far as the equipment list goes, the rest of it remains the same as the manual XM trims with an addition of an optional new white contrast finish for the roof. There are some features that are missing from the AMT variant of the XM, like projector headlamps, daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, an automatic climate control system, the Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto compatibility and the rear wash, wiper and defogger; all these features are available on the top-end XZA+ variant. The XMA variant, however, gets 60:40 split folding seats, unlike its manual counterpart.
The price of the XMA variants of the Nexon makes it a direct rival to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza VDi AMT, which is priced at INR 8.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
