Tata Nexon EV MAX Is Coming; Features Illuminated Gear Dial

Tata is working tirelessly to strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio and, continuing the revelation spree, it has now teased the upcoming EV MAX. The brand is all set to mesmerise the Indian audience with the sophisticated technology as well as the updated design of the MAX EV. We have already seen the Curvv and Avinya EVs with their hypnotising design language. Now it’s time to welcome the long-range Nexon MAX, most likely on May 11, 2022.

The first teaser video of the Tata Nexon MAX indicates the new design of five-spoke alloy wheels. However, not many design cues are found in the teaser video. The biggest attraction was the large and illuminated gear dial. Furthermore, the traditional handbrake looks to have been replaced by an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold feature. The ‘S’ (Sport) mode on the dial has been replaced with separate Eco and Sport driving mode buttons located adjacent to the gear dial.

According to previous speculations, the next Nexon EV MAX would have a bigger 40kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a potential range of roughly 400km on a single charge. The standard version of the battery-powered SUV has a 30.2kWh battery pack with a stated range of 312km on a single charge. The bigger battery pack is also likely to take up some of the rear trunk space. Not only will the range of the completely electric Nexon be increased, but so will its performance.

As disclosed by a Delhi RTO document, the new battery pack will provide power to a motor capable of producing 136 PS. In comparison, the current Ziptron powertrain in the Nexon EV produces 129 PS and 245 Nm of peak torque. The Nexon EV MAX will be heavier by roughly 100 kg due to the bigger battery pack. The fast charging feature should also be possible with the new Nexon Max Electric to add to the convenience of the vehicle owners.
