Tata Punch Owner Installs Blue Star AC in The Boot of The Car

With summer temperatures so high, a car’s cooling system is tested to its limits. Several locations in India recorded temperatures of more than 45 degrees Celsius in 2022. Things will only get worse as global temperatures are expected to rise by 1.5 degrees Celsius between 2030 and 2050.

Because car air conditioners take longer to cool down the cabin during the summer, YouTuber FWS (FunWithScience) came up with the novel idea of using a window AC inside the car. The experiment was carried out on a Tata Punch with the help of a couple of large batteries and an inverter.

The Tata Punch stock air conditioner is put to the test. The outside temperature is approximately 41 degrees Celsius, while the cabin temperature is 36 degrees Celsius. After 20 minutes of running the air conditioner, the cabin temperature drops to 24 degrees Celsius.

After 30 minutes, the cabin temperature has dropped to a comfortable 20 degrees Celsius. Even though there may be a few minutes of discomfort at first, the Tata Punch stock AC appears to be performing quite well.

The car is then outfitted with a Blue Star window AC in the following step. It is powered by extra battery packs that are linked to an inverter. The video does not show the actual process of installing the window AC in the car’s boot section and installing the battery and inverter connections.

Because the window AC vents hot air, the boot lid must remain open at all times. A plastic wrapping film was used at the back to improve the performance of the window AC. It acts as a barrier between the cool front air and the hot rear air.

The window AC is finally put to the test after gathering feedback from friends and strangers. The stock air conditioner was tested during the day, whereas the window air conditioner was tested at night. If the window AC was tested in the same environment as the stock AC, it is possible that it would have taken longer to cool the cabin.
