Tata TAMO RaceMo Bags ‘German Design Award 2018’
Tata TAMO RaceMo was a hit among show goers @ 87th Geneva Motor Show. Designed at Tata Motors Design Studio in Italy, RaceMo entered Microsoft Forza, the popular gaming platform in just 8 months.
Recently, Tata TAMO RaceMo received the prestigious German Design Award 2018 for its excellent design and thus, RaceMo undoubtedly stays the best thing to come out of Tata lineup of concepts in recent times.
TAMO Racemo is powered by a decent 1198cc, three cylinder engine producing 190 HP at 6500 rpm and 210 Nm at 2500 rpm. It weighs just 800 kg and turn heads with its 3835 mm of compact yet extremely effective length.
The engine of Tata TAMO RaceMocomes mated to a 6-speed AMT unit while TAMO claims a 0-100 kmph sprint in under 6-seconds. The car comes with 205/50 R17 rubber for the front and uses a differently sized 235/45 R18 for the rear.
The interior of the Tata TAMO RaceMo carries the race car appeal as its race spec steering wheel carries everything from the push start button to the controls of the three screen instrument console.
The buttons on the inside look more into the premium sports car segment. The dual tone dashboard has minimum number of options while the center console comes with various controls for the RaceMo.
Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors said, “Winning the prestigious German Design Council’s Gold Award for Automotive Design is a proud moment for us and, and is testament to the skill and passion of the Global Tata Motors Design team. A perfect blend of Italian sensuality and Indian ingenuity, the RaceMo is the first innovation from our sub-brand TaMo and our emotional, unexpected leap to the future. The RaceMo connects with the aspiring customers of India, making it a perfect extension of our customer’s personality. We hope to continue on this path towards innovation and disruption in product design and technology.”
Pratap Bose, Head of Design, Tata Motors said, “With the RaceMo winning the award for International Design Excellence, within a few months from its first global showcase, marks a very important milestone for Tata Motors Design Team. The RaceMo was the result of the intense collaboration between the design and engineering team at Tata Motors. What started off as a design study today stands strong as a production ready two-seater sports coupe, specially designed for the global Indian audience. All of us at Tata Motors are very proud and excited about bringing the car to India.”
