Symbolizing the hard work of Tata Motors in the compact hatchback segment, the all new Tiago has launched in the country for an introductory price tag of INR 3,20,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). It carries the spirit of a young design and discloses a blend of maturity and freshness with it’s premium interior feel. In short, Tata again has a potential weapon to destroy the hierarchy of other cars like Celerio and Beat in the Indian market.
Tiago features two economical, 3-cylinder petrol and diesel engines while the transmission for both has been kept the same 5-speed manual unit. The Revotron 1199cc petrol motor is good for 85 PS @ 6000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 3500 rpm. The all aluminum engine is light and zippy in the new Tiago. The Revotorq 1047 cc diesel motor produces 70 PS @ 4000 rpm and 140 Nm @ 1800-3000 rpm. The petrol and diesel variants have ARAI-certified fuel mileage of 23.84 kmpL and 27.28 kmpL, respectively.
The car measures 3746 mm in length, 1647 mm in width and 1535 mm in height. The wheelbase measures 2400 mm while it comes with a ground clearance of 170 mm. It uses a 35 liter fuel tank and rides on 175/65-R14 wheels. The car comes loaded with first in class features like Harman 8 speaker audio system with smartphone integration and corner stability control. It provides ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, day/night IRVM and many other useful features for everyday driving.
It comes in a total of 5 variants named XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ, with 2 engine options (total 10 variants). Offering the most feature loaded approach among the competition, Tata has priced the Tiago really well this time. Variant wise price distribution has been given below:
