Tesla Roadster Officially Unveiled: Elon Musk kept his promise of unveiling something that can shock the auto industry and this time, Tesla Roadster is the new car to back his claim. The car promises something that was never heard before, at least not on the road.
Tesla Roadster is groundbreaking and that comes true from its 0-97 kmph sprint time of just 1.9 seconds. This makes the second generation Roadster first car in production history to break the 2 second barrier. A quarter mile drag race would take 8.9 seconds to finish while 0-161 takes just 4.2 seconds.
The claimed top speed is still unavailable but Musk hints that it’s well over 250 mph. The 200 kwh battery pack on the Roadster makes it good for more than 1000 kms of driving range. This is the second best number available from the new Roadster.
All this power comes from single front and two rear motors and gets channeled to all four wheels through the advanced drive-train. The base variant for the Roadster will cost around $200,000 (INR 1.3 Crore approx, direct conversion) while higher spec will be placed higher at $250,000 (1.6 Crore approx.).
Cost effectiveness has always been Tesla’s heavy point and Roadster is no different story. It will be faster than cars that are almost 10 times its price and that may force fossil fuel lovers to think once about electric power. Well, imagine winning a drag race from any of the available Ferrari and that too with zero emission throughout the race.
The feeling would be awesome. Carrying a delightful design, Tesla Roadster is nothing less than a head turner when placed against any possible hypercar around the world. Fantastic and future friendly, the second generation Roadster is here to make big brand sweat.
