Top 10 Best-Selling Cars in India (June 2017)

June 2017 was a tough month for all car manufacturers of India. The news of post GST benefits broke in such a way that everyone preferred waiting for few more days before buying a new car in the country. The sales figures are one such proof that show the drastic change in numbers that came in the last month of old taxation system of India.

Maruti and Hyundai were the only two brands that survived this wave with half of the numbers still intact on their side. All other brands had to leave the list of top 10 cars that were sold in India in June 2017. Even after being offered with huge benefits, Maruti Suzuki sales saw decline of up to 50 percent for most popular products.

Maruti Alto sold just 14,856 units in June 2017, making it the all time low figure for Maruti Suzuki in last few years. This wave pushed other Maruti cars lower and brought the second spot to Hyundai Grand i10 with 12,317 units. The fall in case of Hyundai cars was not that massive as the effect went just around 10 percent of the overall sales.

Maruti Dzire stood third with 12,049 units while WagonR took the fourth space to 10,668 units. Hyundai Elite i20 took some hit from GST row and got fifth space with 10,609 units. That made i20 lose around 2,000 units from its regular numbers. Maruti Swift saw 9,902 units of Swift moving in June 2017 while Vitara Brezza stood seventh with 8,293 units. Baleno had huge rise in sales in last few month but suddenly, the number fell to 9,057 units last month.

Hyundai Creta sold a total of 6,436 units, making it the third Hyundai car to enter the top 10 selling cars list for June 2017. Tenth spot was finished by Maruti Celerio with 6,357 units in sale within the same period. The maximum share of June 2017 sales went into Maruti’s lineup. Brands like Toyota, Honda and Mahindra has the worst hit due to expensive vehicles that attracted major reduction in taxes.
