A large chunk of buyers shift from smaller to full sized hatchbacks as this offers sedan style legroom and width while not compromising on the ability of hatchback to get away easily though heavy traffic and busy streets.

Maruti retails two products at similar prices (Swift and Baleno, Celerio and Ignis) in the hatchback segment. Still, they have enough buyers on their side to get these huge numbers.

Hyundai Elite i20 scored 13,319 units while i10 Grand followed close with 12,476 units for March 2018. Tata Tiago (8,123 units) got itself the seventh position and scored more than popular Maruti Celerio (7,395 units) and Renault Kwid (5,853 units). Being quite expensive than other similar sized cars, Hyundai Eon still claimed tenth position with 4,500 units during this 31 day period.
