Maruti Alto topped this list with 23,830 units being sold in September 2017, declaring the same as India’s favorite hatchback of all time. It can be bought in two different variants and decision depends upon the choice of engine on needs for everyday commute.
Maruti Baleno was a favorite among premium hatchback buyers from its first day, scoring nothing less than 16,238 units in September 2017. This makes it a great option to buy this festive season as lakhs of buyers trust the brand for its impressive value for money approach. Maruti WagonR stood third with 14649 units but seems to have lost some of its customer base to Ignis.
Hyundai enters the list at number four with 14,099 units for Grand i10. Maruti Swift came fifth with 13,193 units but seems to lose some of its customers to Grand i10 and Baleno. Fans are waiting for the new variant and numbers may further witness a fall. Hyundai i20 Elite scored 11,574 units and stood sixth on this top 10 hatchback list.
Renault Kwid was more or less consistent with 9,099 units of sale while Tiago seems to be the next favorite at 8,316 units in September 2017. Hyundai Eon and Maruti Celerio got the next two positions with 5,144 units and 4,797 units in 30 days of sale respectively.
