Top 15 Best-Selling Hatchbacks in India (September 2018)

Hatchbacks form a majority of sales for most brands as they are effectively priced, least taxed and very effective in traffic-filled cities. The top selling hatchbacks of India have surprisingly huge numbers on their side. India’s most selling car for September 2018, Maruti Swift scored 22,228 units and topped every chart for high ranking cars. Maruti Alto is the second car on this list, following the Swift with utmost attention for 21,719 units. The third spot goes to Maruti Baleno with 18,631 units while Wagon R came next with 13,252 units. Hyundai i20 broke the spell and got the fifth position with 12,380 units.

Hyundai Grand i10 is another bestseller with 11,224 units while Maruti Celerio got 9,208 buyers in September 2018. Tata Tiago got the eighth position in the hatchback segment, getting away with 8,377 units while Kwid and Eon bagged the next two positions with 5,529 and 5,309 units. Apart from these 10 cars, all others posted smaller, but still better numbers than other segments of cars. Maruti Ignis scored 2,648 units while the compact Redi-Go was good for 1,658 units. Volkswagen Polo posted 1,583 units in September 2018 while Mahindra KUV100 and Honda Jazz were last two on the list with 1,171 and 1,018 units respectively.

The list is primarily dominated by Maruti and Hyundai, further leaving space for one product each from remaining brands. Ford Figo is missing from the list as they just posted five units in sales last month. The brand is preparing for 2018 variant launch, carrying the same sort of changes that are seen on the Aspire and Freestyle variant. The most powerful one here is Baleno RS while least power comes from the standard petrol variant of Volkswagen Polo.
