Top 25 Best-Selling Cars in India [May 2017]

Car sales saw a very different trend in May 2017 when compared to the same list last month. Most of the products are back on their original positions but some have lost their places from the first few to the last ones on the list.

Most cars are the ones that were seen in the list from last one year while 2017 variants of many cars were the major reason behind the reshuffling of this list. Here are the top 25 cars that made into the highest selling cars list in India.

Maruti Alto is leading the sales charts with 23,618 units sold in May 2017

Maruti Alto claimed the first position on this list once again in May 2017 with 23,618 units. The last month’s winner, Maruti Swift, is now on the second position with 16,532 units while next two are again from the Maruti lineup.

Maruti Wagon R sold 15,471 units in the same month while Baleno registered 14,629 units in May 2017. Hyundai Grand i10 was fifth with 12,984 units while Vitara Brezza sold a total of 12375 units. If compared with the last month’s list, the values are highly variable.

Maruti and Hyundai seems to clear their pending bookings as their number always vary between different models. Seventh place was bagged by Hyundai i20 with 10,667 units while Maruti Dzire came eighth with 9413 units.

Hyundai sold 8377 units of Creta in May 2017

Hyundai Creta stood ninth with 8377 units while Ertiga from Maruti’s lineup sold 7121 units in May 2017. This makes the first ten places exclusive to Maruti and Hyundai as they don’t let any other car enter this space and this trend has been seen from a long time.

Renault sold 6990 units of KWID in May 2017

Renault KWID took the eleventh spot with 6990 units while Maruti Omni came next with 6835 units. Mahindra Bolero was quite close by 6832 units. Fourteenth and fifteenth slot was claimed by Maruti Celerio and Eeco respectively.

Toyota sold 5643 units of Innova Crysta in May 2017

Toyota Innova Crysta came next with 5643 units while Hyundai Eon followed next by a small gap and claimed 5330 units. The list followed with Tata Tiago and Mahindra Scorpio, both selling 4901 and 4730 units respectively. Maruti Ciaz claimed the twentieth spot with 4724 units in May 2017.

Maruti sold 14,629 units of Baleno in May 2017

Maruti Ignis sold 4518 units while Honda City got 4046 buyers in the same month. This was the last car to cross the 4k mark as Hyundai Xcent, Ford EcoSport and Honda WRV got 3804, 3565 and 2814 units in sales respectively.

A total of 12 Maruti cars made into the top 25 list, making it the highest selling brand in India. Hyundai had 5 cars within the same list and thus, 17 places were occupied by both the brands.
