The month of October 2018 proved beneficial for most brands, getting more than usual numbers and a decent difference in comparison to the number of units sold in September 2018. The top 5 compact SUVs of India had Maruti Vitara Brezza on the first position, getting itself 15,832 units and showing a growth of 36% in comparison to the cars sold in October 2017. Brezza is one among the top 10 selling cars of India, proving its worth through unmatched pricing and impressive road stance. The second position goes to Tata Nexon with 4608 units in the same month.
The improvement in YoY sales for Nexon is 49%, leaving Tata with raised profits through the next generation products. Ford EcoSport is the toughest rival that Nexon can imagine, gaining impressive numbers with 3957 units in October 2018. The car was good for just 400 units last year, all thanks to the wait that its customers planned for the face-lifted model. The growth was negative for Honda WR-V, posting just 3253 units in the same period. It was earlier good for 3443 units, showing how buyers have moved from the segment into the above three cars. Mahindra TUV300 got the fifth position.
The most butch-looking car from all the above options, TUV300 was good for 2113 units. The SUV was earlier good for 2781 units, leaving a void in the Mahindra legacy that is built on tough vehicles. The fuel effective models from all brands have made it difficult for the less effective TUV300 to survive. The drop of 24% is the worst among all five brands. Maruti Vitara Brezza starts from INR 7.64 lakh and comes as the second option after TUV to feature a diesel engine only. All the others are available with both petrol and diesel engine option.
