Maruti Suzuki is continuing the plans of conquering each possible segment, with Ciaz being their next best-seller in the sedan market with sales figure of 3892 units last month. The top 5 sedans of India are not counting the compact options among them. Maruti Ciaz recently received a facelift, adding much more options to the package and rivaling others with even more ease. Honda City is the second best seller with 3612 units for the month of October 2018. Hyundai Verna had the third position with 3301 units. All three of them are strict rivals, with range of variants going as high as INR 14 lakh for the diesel manual variant of Honda City. Ciaz, on the other hand, ends earlier in comparison to both the cars. Verna creates a balance of list of equipment and price for the buyers.
Skoda Rapid scored the fourth position with 1205 units in October 2018 while Vento was good for 480 buyers and fifth position on this list. Toyota Yaris performed extremely bad during the festive hype, getting just 421 units for the the 31-day period. The lack of diesel engine is a big drawback as buyers still prefer getting diesel powered sedans for low overall cost of travel. Maruti Ciaz is best known for maximum legroom for the rear seat while City is popular for unmatched performance and elegant designing. The Verna is well loaded, carrying impressive built quality and most number of features out of all cars here. Here is the top 5 sedan list for October 2018.
The Indian market is primarily focused on compact hatchbacks, leaving less space for bigger cars due to higher taxes and high traffic in cities. Even the architecture like parking and street sizes are not compatible with huge cars in most cities.
