Confirmed: Toyota Glanza is the Official Name of Rebadged Maruti Baleno

Toyota is all set to launch its upcoming hatchback based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The rebadged Baleno hatchback has been officially christened as Toyota Glanza. The brand confirmed the name by releasing a teaser image today. The hatchback is the first shared model after the Toyota Suzuki joint venture. In addition to this, the new partnership will also roll out Maruti Brezza, Ertiga, and Ciaz with a Toyota badge in India as well as in the International markets.

The rear end design of the upcoming Toyota Glanza can be seen in the teaser photo where it features the same alloy wheels as seen on the Maruti Baleno, though, the badge at the centre now features a Toyota logo. According to the reports, Toyota will be offering the Glanza in two variants namely Glanza G and Glanza V.

Powering the upcoming hatchback will be the same 1.2-litre K12C petrol engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 84 HP and an utmost torque of 115 Nm. The Toyota Glanza will be only available with Maruti Suzuki’s BS-VI compliant petrol engine and as of now, the brand has no plans to launch the diesel version of Glanza in India. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while it can also feature a CVT gearbox, depending on the car variant.

The Glanza hatchback will be available in grey, red, blue, silver, and white colours in the Indian market while featuring minor tweaks on the front grille and other design elements of the Baleno. The Toyota Glanza premium hatchback will be available in the market with a 3 year/1,00,000 km warranty, which is more than the 2-year/40,000 km warranty being offered on the Maruti Baleno. The customers can also opt for the seven-year Toyota Timeless Warranty package after the standard warranty time period is over.

The hatchback can also be availed with an extended 5-year True Warranty package. The Toyota Glanza will be initially manufactured at the Maruti Suzuki plant in Gujarat before shifting the manufacturing to the Toyota’s plant in Bengaluru. Glanza hatchback is all set to launch in India later this month and it will most likely get a higher price tag than the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
