Toyota India has confirmed the launch of all new Fortuner in India in the month of November this year. The car was under a bit of launch confusion as the Delhi diesel ban had a huge impact on Toyota’s sales from last 8 months. When the ban was withdrawn, the Innova Crysta appeared in the top 10 car being sold in the country. First week of November 2016 will mark the entry of the newcomer from Toyota.
The car now comes with updated design, new engine family and much more modern appeal than the current generation of this car being sold in the country. The new car is based on a completely new design language, changing the bold, flat face to a much sharper one. The curves now look more premium than ever while the use of a unique grill and bump in the window line makes it look more upmarket than ever.
The new engines on the Fortuner have been provided in the recently launched Innova Crysta. It will even offer the same gearboxes while the power production would be definitely on the higher side. The 2.4 L engine will produce 148 BHP and 400 Nm of torque while the 2.8 L will bring out 174.6 BHP and 450 Nm of torque. The gearbox options will include 6-speed manual and automatic units.
The new Fortuner will feature high ground clearance, all time 4WD option, large dampers and a much stiffer chassis. It will be much better in terms of ride quality than the previous generation car while the most interesting part this time would be the interior of the car. It will feature leather covered dashboard with chrome inserts, touchscreen infotainment system, newly designed instrument console and even better and luxurious seats.
The car will be available with a number of variants ranging from 2WD-4wd, Manual-Automatic and 2.4 L-2.8 L engines. The shades on offer would be revealed on the day of launch itself while the car can be expected with a higher starting price tag of around INR 25 lakh. The king of its segment will face tough competition from the new Ford Endeavour this time, which offers a wide variety of modern technology and a powerful 3.2 L, 5-cylinder diesel engine.
