2019 Toyota Fortuner TRD Edition Launched in India @ INR 33.85 Lakh

Toyota has officially launched a special edition model of the Fortuner named TRD Celebratory Edition at a price tag of INR 33.85 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant has been launched to celebrate the 10 years of the Fortuner SUV in India. The TRD model is available with a 2.8-litre diesel engine only and it is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission in 4x2 configuration. The TRD Celebratory Edition of the SUV is priced INR 2.15 lakh higher in comparison to the standard Fortuner 2.8D 4x2 AT. The company has managed to sell nearly 1.60 lakh units of the Toyota Fortuner in India in the past 10 years. The TRD Sportivo limited edition variant was first introduced on the current-gen of the Fortuner back in 2017. Now, the 2019 model of the TRD variant carries similar styling as the previous model but some new elements differentiate the new model from the previous one. Mechanically, the SUV continues to be powered by the same 2.8-litre diesel engine that is good enough to produce 177 HP of maximum power and 450 Nm of maximum torque. Coming to the exterior changes, the car is available in dual-tone colour with pearl white body and a black roof. Other than that, the front also gets a TRD badge on the grille and a new bumper with a faux skid plate. Another noticeable change is that the SUV is equipped with black 18-inch alloy wheels which are not available on the standard 2WD AT Fortuner. The rear change includes a new design for the bumper. Talking about the interiors, the dual-tone theme continues on the inside as well. The maroon and black seats get TRD badges and the dashboard gets contrast red stitching. The rest of the features of the SUV remain unchanged as it gets the same LED projector headlamps, 7-inch touchscreen system with embedded navigation, 7 airbags, vehicle stability control with brake assist, hill assist control and ABS with EBD. The new Toyota Fortuner TRD edition will compete in the Indian market against the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4, Honda CR-V, Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tiguan, and the Isuzu MU-X.
